Great American Seafood Cook-off Begins
On day 3 of our New Orleans adventure, we arrived at the convention center in time to watch chefs John Varanese, of Louisville’s Varanese Restaurant, and Jeremy Ashby, of Lexington’s Azur Restaurant, get their ingredients ready.
This event is the biggie when it comes to preparation and presentation of seafood and we’re here as guests of Susan Crook, a friend and extraordinary restaurant marketing pro. Susan does the marketing for Varanese and she co-produces Johns tv show.
The Great American Seafood Cook-off is a feast for the senses. In front of a large group of foodies, some two dozen of America’s finest chefs prepare some of the most mouthwatering dishes imaginable.
Headed to New Orleans!
Well, its 9:45 pm and I’m in a van with my bride Sande, my son Brad, his friend Colton, the amazing Susan Crook and her mega cool buddy Gregg Motter.
We’re tooling down I-59 rockin to Black Sabbath making plans for 5 days in the Big Easy and its going to be awesome!!!
We’re coming to Cajun country to watch John Varanese and Jeremy Ashby completely outclass the competition and win the Great American Seafood Cookoff.
If you’re a foodie and you aren’t in New Orleans this weekend, my friend, you’re missing something. But being the Noble Public Servant that I am, I’m going to provide you withwall to wall coverage of this weekend and our celebration of it!

What’s the secret here? Sure, Louisvillians are a well-traveled bunch, but Read more…
